Steel pipe reducer is used in piping system to change the diameter of pipe. ANSI / ASME B16. 9 Butt weld pipe reducer is an pipe connector or pipe joint that reduces the size of pipe from larger diameter to smaller. The reduction in size is mainly equal to the average smaller and larger pipe diameter.
Reducers are usually concentric, but eccentric reducers are used when it is necessary to keep the top or bottom of the pipe horizontal.
Depending on the Mach number of the air flow, the reducer can be used as a nozzle or diffuser.
Reducers allow pipe sizes to be changed to meet the hydraulic flow requirements of the system or to accommodate existing pipes of different sizes.

Concentric reducer
In concentric reducers, the pipe size can be reduced by reducing the diameter of the pipe fitting at a constant rate over a specified length and maintaining the symmetry around the pipe fitting. Concentric reducers are used to connect pipes or segments of different diameters on the same axis. They provide an in-line conical transition between pressurized pipes of different diameters. Therefore, concentric reducers connect pipes of different sizes, but have a common centerline. The same accessory can be used in reverse as a concentric expander.
Eccentric reducer

In eccentric reducers, you can reduce the pipe size by reducing the diameter of the fitting at a constant rate over a specified length and keeping one side of the fitting horizontal. The eccentric reducer joint is manufactured so that the smaller outlet deviates from the center to the larger end, so that it is only aligned with one side of the inlet. The same accessories can be used in reverse as eccentric expander.
